My Testimony
I have a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and its teachings. I
know that if we apply them in our life we will find true joy and lasting
happiness.
I have come to understand the truths of the gospel, line upon line, and
precept upon precept, here a little, there a little, and gained knowledge
and understanding as I have prayed, pondered, and studied the scriptures
which include the Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants,
and the Pearl of Great Price.
I am grateful that the Lord restored the truth and fullness of the gospel
thru a young man who was sincerely seeking the truth and followed the admonition
of James who stated "If any of ye lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth
to all men liberally, and upbraideth not and it shall be given to him."
Because of his sincere desire for truth, not knowing at the time what
the Lord had in store for him, he received a wonderful vision in which he
saw the Father and the Son on his right hand and was given information at
that time which would change the world.
It was at the moment that the restoration of the primitive church which
was founded on apostles and prophets began to be restored, piece by piece
just as it was in ancient times. Jesus Christ being the chief cornerstone.
And rightfully so, being that it was his church and needed his authority
to act within it.
What a marvelous thing to know that the heavens have not shut its doors
but continues to send forth revelation through living prophets and apostles
to guide his church and to send forth those things we need to know and understand
in this day. Its importance is just as valuable now, as it was in ancient
times to have a prophet speak in behalf of the Lord. Without this guidance
and direction coming from direct revelation for the church, there would be
chaos and misunderstanding as to the true meaning of many things including
the scriptures. I feel it a priveledge to be a member of the Church of Jesus
Christ, but along with the priveldge I feel a great responsibility to my
fellowman to share these truths and to allow them the same blessings that
I have to understand our true nature and our relationship with God.
I know that I am literally a daughter of my Heavenly Father. My spirit
once resided with him and talked and walked with him before I came to earth
to be tested and tried on this earth. Having that knowledge gives me a greater
understanding of my relationship with God. He is not just a supreme being.
He is "truly" my Father in Heaven, just as I have been given an earthly
father.
And when we speak of "returning home" how can we return to a place we
have never been. And yet at times even without knowing, others who do not
have this knowledge say this and don't even realize the depth of what it
means.
I know that Jesus Christ suffered for the pains and sorrows and sins of
the world. His mission on this earth allowed us to overcome not only the
physical death, but a spiritual death, by repenting and coming unto him with
full purpose of heart" How grateful I am for that knowledge. How grateful
I am that he loved us enough to perform that most supreme sacrifice.
I know that he lives, that he loves us, that he continues to guide his
church on the earth today thru living prophets and apostles, just as he did
of old.
He is the same, yesterday, and forever. His gospel does not change nor
does his laws.
I love the Lord and I pray that my example will be one in which others
may
Know that he lives too.
This is the testimony which I give and pray that those who may read this
may also reaffirm their own faith in the Lord or on the other hand may know
that they too can find the peace and happiness that comes from knowing the
Lord and understanding his gospel and the truths that are there.
